This one goes back to the late 80's when we were big time farmers and small time contractors on the side.

This farm was Manawahi farms run by Manawahi men?

The CW 41 Nissan (a whole 265 HP) did us well. We did a trip towing a tilt deck trailer right up to Pauanui Coramandell. Through one of the gorges on the south side of Wairoa we hit a another trucks mirrors, it was a Scammell and the badge ended up on the passenger seat of our truck. We got the mirror fixed the next day in Opotiki on a Thursday which is quite a interesting day there. My co driver went into the bakery to get smoko, a lady walked in and said “biff us a sandwich”, that saying stuck with us for sometime!

We had a great trip despite the Nissan having a blown head gasket and using a bit of water. We purchased a D6B Cat from a guy Prestige in Whitianga and dragged it all the way home to Palmerston North.

The Hymac 580C was not the fastest snail but did us well. It’s now rusting away up in Ohingaiti.
